The wait was worth it.

For the first time since 2019, 40 Square Cooperative Solutions held its in person Informational Meeting (because a quorum wasn’t reached, the board couldn’t hold an annual meeting) and its first in person board meeting since Amanda Beavens became executive director in July 2022. The meeting was held at the New Ulm Conference Center.

“This was a first for our new staff and I’m pleased we were all able to gather together in the same room, reconnect and look ahead to the coming year,” 40 Square Chair Cole Trebesch said.

Prior to the Informational Meeting, the 40 Square board gathered for its monthly meeting, its first since Amanda Beavens became executive director.

The full board was present, along with Beavens and Sales Executive Michael Kielty and current plan participants. 40 Square actuary Paul Fallisi delivered a report on the status of the Health Plan; lobbyist Cory Bennett also spoke about the upcoming election and the legislative challenge and opportunities for 40 Square in 2023 (the Legislative Session begins Jan. 3). Following the election, the board will discuss its legislative priorities for 2023.

Following the meeting, the board reelected Trebesch to serve as chair. Steve Hoffman will return as chair and Kevin Lauwagie will continue serving as secretary/treasurer. The board will meet again in December.

“We thank our directors and the members for participating and look forward to holding a larger Annual Meeting next year,” Beavens said.
